Interior Inspiration

Great interiors aren't about following trends—they're about creating spaces that feel authentically yours. At Bodhi Artisans, we believe a handcrafted rug is the foundation of your room's story. The anchor that brings everything together. The piece that transforms a house into a home.

Room Style Guides

Bohemian

Layer richly patterned rugs in warm terracottas, deep indigos, and earthy ochres. Mix textures freely — kilims alongside hand-tufted wool — and let the rug be the centrepiece of an eclectic, well-travelled room. Pair with rattan furniture, macramé, and abundant plants.

Scandinavian

Embrace simplicity. Choose rugs in ivory, soft grey, or muted sage with minimal geometric patterns. Natural wool textures add warmth to clean-lined furniture and pale wood floors. Less is more — let the craftsmanship speak quietly.

Minimalist

A single, well-proportioned rug in a neutral tone grounds the space without competing for attention. Opt for tone-on-tone textures or subtle loop patterns. The rug's quality and material become the statement in a pared-back interior.

Contemporary Luxury

Go bold with oversized rugs in deep jewel tones — forest green, midnight blue, or warm burgundy. Pair with marble surfaces, brass accents, and velvet upholstery for a layered, high-end aesthetic that feels curated and intentional.

Coastal & Natural

Bring the outdoors in with rugs in sandy beiges, ocean blues, and driftwood tones. Natural wool fibres complement linen, jute, and light timber furniture. Keep patterns organic — abstract waves, loose geometrics, or undyed natural textures.

How to Choose the Right Rug Size

Living Room

  • All furniture legs on the rug: creates a cohesive, grounded look — ideal for larger rooms.
  • Front legs only on the rug: the most common approach, visually connecting furniture while keeping the space open.
  • Rug floats in the centre: works in compact rooms; leave at least 18" of bare floor around the rug's edges.

Dining Room

Choose a rug that extends at least 24" beyond the table on all sides. This ensures chairs remain on the rug even when pulled out — both practical and visually balanced.

Bedroom

  • Large rug under the full bed: extends 24–36" on the sides and foot of the bed for a luxurious feel.
  • Runner on each side: a practical option that frames the bed and provides a soft landing each morning.
  • Rug at the foot of the bed: a smaller rug placed horizontally adds warmth and definition without overwhelming the space.

Entryway & Hallway

Runners work beautifully in narrow hallways — choose one that leaves 4–6" of floor visible on each side. In entryways, a bold rug sets the tone for your entire home; make it count.

Colour Pairing Tips

Neutral Rugs with Bold Furniture

An ivory or natural wool rug grounds a room with statement furniture — a deep green sofa, a terracotta armchair — without competing. The rug becomes the calm beneath the colour.

Bold Rugs as the Starting Point

Let a richly coloured rug lead your palette. Pull two or three accent colours from the rug into cushions, throws, and artwork. Keep walls and large furniture neutral to let the rug breathe.

Tone-on-Tone Sophistication

Varying shades of the same colour family — warm whites, creams, and taupes — create a serene, layered look. Texture becomes the hero: chunky wool against smooth linen, matte against sheen.

Complementary Contrasts

Pair warm-toned rugs (rust, amber, blush) with cool-toned walls (slate blue, sage, charcoal) for a dynamic, balanced interior. The contrast creates visual energy without feeling chaotic.

Curated Room Setups

The Warm Living Room

A large hand-tufted wool rug in warm ivory anchors a linen sofa and walnut coffee table. Terracotta cushions and a brass floor lamp complete the look. The rug's natural texture adds depth without pattern — effortlessly warm and inviting.

The Serene Bedroom

A plush wool rug in soft sage extends generously beneath a low platform bed. White linen bedding, rattan bedside tables, and sheer curtains create a calm, restorative sanctuary. The rug is the first and last thing you feel each day.

The Artisan Dining Room

A geometric-patterned rug in earthy tones defines the dining zone beneath a solid oak table and leather chairs. Pendant lighting in aged brass and a ceramic centrepiece complete a space that feels both grounded and refined.

The Bold Study

A deep indigo rug with subtle texture grounds a dark wood desk and leather chair. Bookshelves lined with warm-spined books, a vintage globe, and a single statement plant — a workspace that inspires focus and creativity.

Designer Tips on Layering Rugs

  • Start with a large neutral base: A flat-weave or natural fibre rug in a generous size provides the foundation. Layer a smaller, more decorative rug on top for personality.
  • Mix textures, not patterns: If your base rug has a pattern, keep the top rug textural and solid — and vice versa. This creates depth without visual noise.
  • Offset, don't centre: Place the top rug slightly off-centre or at an angle for an effortlessly curated, designer look.
  • Vary pile heights: A low-pile base with a high-pile or shaggy top rug creates a luxurious, tactile contrast underfoot.
  • Use a rug pad between layers: This prevents slipping and protects both rugs from wear.
  • Keep scale in mind: The top rug should be noticeably smaller — roughly half to two-thirds the size of the base rug — so both are visible and intentional.
